FAQs
What do we discuss during the free 30-minute consultation?
Positive outcomes in therapy are most likely to happen when there is a strong, trusting relationship between client and therapist. The consultation is an opportunity for you to get an idea of what working with me is like, learn about the details of my practice, and to tell me about what brings you in and what you hope to get out of therapy.
What can I expect at my first session?
From our first session together, we’ll work to identify goals and find techniques to help with your most acute concerns. I believe that everyone should leave their first therapy session with a concrete strategy to support their therapy goals. In addition, we’ll explore a variety of areas of your life to identify how to most effectively begin the work together.
How long are the sessions?
Sessions are typically around 55 minutes. If we are at 51 minutes and we’ve found a good note to end on, we won’t open up another box right at the end. However, if we are at 55 minutes and we have a box wide open, we’ll go past our scheduled time to make sure that you leave therapy feeling like you are in a place to continue your day.
Where do you practice?
I offer virtual therapy for clients in New York and Washington in the United States and British Columbia in Canada.
What are your current rates or fees for therapy?
My fee is $150 per session. I offer a sliding scale to make therapy more affordable. Much of my fee can be covered through out-of-network benefits or mental health benefits.
What payment options do you accept?
I accept credit card, Venmo, or e-transfer.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, I ask that you provide me with 24 hours notice. If you miss a session without cancelling, or cancel with less than 24 hours notice, my policy is to collect payment for the session (unless we both agree that you were unable to attend due to circumstances beyond your control).
Can I claim therapy with my insurance policy?
For clients in the US, I am not in-network with any insurance providers. However, if you have out-of-network benefits, a significant portion or all of my fees can be reimbursed. For clients in Canada, if you have mental health benefits, my services are likely covered. You can check with your insurer to find out if services for Licensed Clinical Social Workers are covered.
